美术系的目标在于，培养纯粹的美术专家。
美术系始于1979年，拥有悠久的历史，并由优秀的教师和讲师提供创意性的艺术教育。每个学生都可以在韩国画、西洋画、实用雕塑专业领域学习各种视觉艺术理论和广泛的人文学知识，进而提高个人的创造性力量，以确保作为艺术家的自我认同性。每个专业都设有创意空间、计算机实习室、印刷室、陶瓷室、铁制室、木工室等创作所需的各种设施，此外还提供摄影、视频、三维动态图像和动漫等数字媒体课程。而且，学生可在昌原大学博物馆和艺术学院展室举行定期展会，以积累他们作为初级艺术家的专业经验。美术系通过与世界领先美术学院进行积极的交流活动，成为培养全球创意人才的发源地。
