Alien registration

  • Application documents: Application form, 1 photo (white background), certificate of enrollment, proof ofresidence (dormitory fee receipt or lease agreement/residence confirmation, fee of 30,000 won)
  • How to apply: Visit the Changwon Immigration Office in person.
  • In case of loss of alien registration card: Prepare application form, certificate of enrollment, and 30,000won fee and visit Changwon Immigration Office in person.

Obligation to report changes

  • Change of address: Visit the Changwon Immigration Office or Foreigner Office within 14 days or report yourchange of address to the Civil Affairs Center.
  • Passport number change: Apply at the Changwon Immigration Office or online within 14 days.

  1. 1Current students (registered for regular semesters, within 8 semesters for undergraduatesand 4 semesters for graduate students)
    1. ① Application form, passport, alien registration card
    2. ② Certificate of enrollment★, transcript
    3. ③ Tuition Payment Receipt★
    4. ④ Documents proving residence★: Dormitory fee payment receipt, rental agreement, residence confirmation(Form )
    5. ⑤ Bank Balance Certificate★: Bank balance certificate in your name with $9,000 (within 30 days) (Attendancecertificate may be added upon request of the Immigration Office)
      - Scholarship Payment Certificate (ifapplicable)
    6. ⑥ Fee: 60,000 won

    Documents marked with an asterisk (*) must be registered as attachments when applying online.

  2. 2Graduates (those who have completed 4 semesters of graduate school and are preparing athesis)
    1. ① Application form, passport, alien registration card
    2. ② Certificate of completion, transcript
    3. ③ Confirmation of thesis schedule by the advisor (Form)
    4. ④ Documents proving residence: dormitory fee payment receipt, rental agreement, residence confirmation (Form)
    5. ⑤ Bank Balance Certificate: KRW 760,000 per month × Extension request period Bank Balance Certificate(within 30 days) or Scholarship Payment Certificate (if applicable)
      • The balance in the Korean Bank account under your name must be a record of remittance from overseas, andonly the amount created through a part-time work permit will be recognized as a domestic balance (additionaltransaction details from your bank account can be requested from the Immigration Office).
      • Visa extensions may be restricted if illegal part-time job wages are confirmed.

Part-time employment permit for international students

Application target

  • Undergraduate and graduate students and graduates (thesis preparation students)
  • Those who have stayed in the country for more than 6 months as a language student

    Applications for permission will be restricted if Korean language proficiency andminimum grades are not met.

  • Applicants must complete the application for a part-time work permit at least 3 days prior to starting work.

Application Qualifications and Criteria

International Student (D-2): Up to 1 year of stay, limited to 2 locations
  • (Minimum grade) Average grade of C (2.0) or higher in the semester immediately preceding the application date
  • (Korean language proficiency): Effective from October 1, 2018
    • 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students: Holders of TOPIK Level 3 or higher
    • 3rd year undergraduate or higher and master's or doctoral degree holders: TOPIKLevel 4 or higher certificate holders
Language Trainee (D-4): Up to 6 months of stay, limited to 1 location
  • (Minimum attendance) If the average attendance rate is 90% or higher for the entire semester
  • (Korean language proficiency) Holders of TOPIK Level 2 or higher certification
If your business registration criteria includes manufacturing or construction, you are prohibitedfrom engaging in any activity.
Restrictions on remote work permits (work more than 1 hour away from school or workplace)

Working hours: From October 1, 2018, only those who have passed the KoreanLanguage Proficiency Test are allowed to work the maximum number of hours.

(Language study course) Within 20 hours per week

Within 20 hours per week, including holidays (including Saturdays) and vacations during thesemester

TOPIK Level 2 or lower: 10 hours per week

(Undergraduate course) Up to 20 hours per week

Unlimited during school holidays (including Saturdays) and vacations (excluding when calculatingweekly allowable hours)

TOPIK Level 3/4 or lower: 10 hours per week

(Master's and Doctoral Program) Within 25 hours per week

Unlimited hours during semester holidays (including Saturdays) and vacations (excluding whencalculating the weekly allowable hours). However, students who have completed thesis preparation are excluded fromthe unlimited hours (only 25 hours per week are allowed).

TOPIK Level 4 or lower: 15 hours per week
