Smart Engineering English 1(Beginner)

Course Synopsis
  • Smart Engineering English 1 is an introductory course that provides students with the basic English skills to build the proficiency and confidence needed for future work in the engineering field.Students develop their abilities in the key areas of essential grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking and writing.
  • This course also prepares students for future participation in the Smart Engineering English 2 and Smart Engineering 3 course, providing them with a clear path to developing their skills in giving English presentations, and technical and academic paper writing.
Target Learners
  • Post-graduate students enrolled in an engineering course (masters or doctorate degree)

  • Smart Engineering English 2 provides students with essential skills for giving English presentations and academic/technical writing in English.Students will provided with examples of presentations and engineering papers from which to learn tips and techniques for their own works.
  • Class time is divided between regular lectures and practice sessions.Students develop their own short, engineering-focused presentations and papers, receiving feedback from both the teacher and other students.
  • This course also prepares students for future participation in the advanced Smart Engineering 3 course.The skills acquired in SEE 2 will be further improved upon in SEE 3.

  • Students study the advanced grammar and vocabulary needed for attending English seminars, lectures and conferences.Additionally, students will prepare for the discussions and Q&A sessions that will result from their own English presentations.
  • Native English engineering papers and presentations are analyzed to demonstrate how technical language is used, and how engineering concepts and explained in detail.
