- CWNU Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center (ERC)
- The National Research Foundation of Korea spotlighted "The power of ten years' group research leading gas turbine independence" CWNU (president Lee Ho-young) Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center (ERC) is receiving a lot of attention as spotlighted on the webzine of the National Research Foundation of Korea. According to CWNU on January 28, 2020, the January 2020 issue of the National Research Foundation of Korea's Webzine published a feature article on CWNU Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center (Director Lee Jae-hyun, Professor, School of Materials Science and Engineering) under the heading of ‘the power of ten years' group research leading gas turbine independence’ at 'Live Research Site'. According to the article, “CWNU Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center was selected as an Engineering Research Center (ERC) in 2011 for a leading research center supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea. After 10 years of continuous group research and practical development of technology, it is adding new competitiveness to Changwon, a national manufacturing city. The Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center, which has realized most of its goals during the first support period for 7 years, was selected for three years of additional support given only to outstanding centers that have achieved special results among the nation's ERCs.” The article also evaluated, “The two key areas of the CWNU Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center are aviation and power generation, and the number of gas turbine engines used in aircraft's propulsion and power plants is about 40,000, which are called “flowers of manufacturing.” Among them, the high strength super heat-resistant material technology that can withstand high temperature and high pressure environment of more than 1500 degrees, and the development of complex shaped parts are the most important issues directly related to guaranteeing device life and safety. After industry-academy-research including the government, large corporations, and small and medium-sized enterprises mobilized their wisdom and capacity together in Korea, they succeeded in developing the world's fifth generation gas turbine independent model last year. At the center was the activity of CWNU Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center, which succeeded in optimizing the next-generation thermal shield coating process and developing the optimum blade design technology. It also added, “Korea's independent development of gas turbines is one of the most representative cases of overcoming Japan in the field of materials and components, and 14 large· small and medium sized enterprises including Doosan Heavy Industries Construction, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and Hanwha Aerospace around the CWNU Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center, national research institutes such as electrical research institutes, materials research institutes, and local governments have gathered together to demonstrate collective intelligence to build a manufacturing innovation platform for mechatronics materials and components.” On the other hand, the National Research Foundation of Korea’s Webzine said, “The CWNU Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center, which is in the second year of the three-year ERC additional support project, further strengthened Korea's expertise in materials and parts for aviation and power generation that are difficult to find in Korea. As a representative specialized research center, it has a plan to secure sustainability. We hope that the commitment of those who have been silent for over 10 years like ttukbaegi (earthen pot), which rarely cools down, can be an engine that leads the leap of all the Korean industrial ecosystems beyond Changwon and Gyeongnam. In an article interview, the director of the CWNU Mechatronics Components and Materials Fusion Research Center Lee Jae-hyun said, “Our center is focusing on the localization of aviation and power generation materials and parts technology, which are the main industries of Changwon and Gyeongnam. - Regional University Student Employment Support Council held at Changwon National University
- CWNU (President Lee Ho-young) announced that the ‘Regional University Student Employment Support Council’ was held in the situation room on the 6th floor of the university headquarters on January 10, 2020. Establishing a council to support career and employment of local talents, CWNU is operating Regional University Student Employment Support Council composed of experts from all walks of life in order to strengthen university competitiveness by increasing employment rate and expand youth jobs based on cooperation among industry-government-academy. With president as its chairman, CWNU Regional University Student Employment Support Council involves political officials including Gyeongnam provincial member Won Sung-il and Changwon councilor Han Eun-jeong, industry and university career and employment officials such as Gyeongnam-do, staff in charge of job-related departments in Changwon-si, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Hanwha Aerospace, KT, LH, Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, Changwon Employment Welfare Center, Kyungnam University, CWNU Human Resource Development Center and Field Practice Support Center to play a role in preparing employment promotion plans for young university students. The term of office of the council members is one year, and they carry out various activities, information sharing, policy suggestions, and spread of achievements to support career and employment of young university students. In the second meeting, which was held following the first meeting of the council held in August last year, various opinions were presented regarding young university student employment policy and strategies to prevent outflow of excellent local talents, and theuniversity will gather capacity to lead to practical support and policy reflection. The council also plans to hold regular exchanges and regular meetings to spread the achievements. - Changwon National University 2020 Opening Ceremony
- Changwon National University (President Lee Ho-young) announced that they held the '2019 Opening Ceremony ' in the auditorium on the 1st floor of the university headquarters in the morning of January 2, 2020. The opening ceremony was held with President Lee Ho-young and other key staff, faculty, students, and related officials. The opening ceremony was carried out in the order of the ceremony opening, national ceremony, government awards and commendation for contributors to university development, president Lee Ho-young's New Year's address, and handshake of the teaching staff, including the president and staff to strengthen resolution for the university development and New Year's Celebration with New Year's congratulatory ceremony to exchange greetings. In his New Year's address, president Lee Ho-young said, “Following ‘Chonwon National University VISION 2030 Declaration Ceremony’ at the end of last year, we will lead the university management of sharing and communication in the new year by creating a place to inform member of the process of implementing the strategy according to VISION 2030 and the direction to be taken and reflecting members' opinions in the policies“. He also said, “In the new year, we will combine all the capabilities of our university for systematic preparation to pass the 3rdUniversity Basic Competency Assessment, which will be conducted in 2021, and the goal of the 3rd evaluation will be achieved when all of our university members are united and diagnose ourselves, and make qualitative improvements in education and research, industry-academic cooperation, and community innovation. And then, he said, “Changwon National University(CWNU) is also in a transitional period to move toward the world's prestigious universities beyond Gyeongnam, and as one of the first steps, we want to leap into the 10th hub national university. As the only national university in Changwon City with a population of 1.08 million, we will strive this year to put CWNU on the foundation of the hub national university based on our pride in taking the lead for the development of our community for the past 50 years.
